Grant Information and Application
 
The Johnson County Autism Support Group, Inc. offers a grant to benefit Johnson County students with autism. As part of our effort to partner with educators in our community, the grant is open to all Johnson County teachers, teacher aids, teacher assistants, school counselors, student groups, parent groups or other school organizations. Its purpose is to fund projects, teaching aids and equipment that would enhance the school experience for kids with autism.
 

The JCASG Board of Directors recently reviewed 20 grant proposals submitted by local schools and community groups.  We  are excited to announce funding for over $6,000 for the following projects:

* Meadowstone Therapeutic Riding Center, Julia Oliver, $1,400

* SPLASH, Traci Andresen, Clark Pleasant Intermediate School, $3,000

* The Accessible Classroom, Allison Knoy, Pleasant Crossing Elementary, $160

* Sensory Break Room, Greenwood Christian Church, Melanie Gorrell, $654

* Individualized Teaching with Technology for Independence, Lisa Fisk, Maple Grove Elementary, $502

* Visual Structure for Increased Independence, Kelly Blakely, Maple Grove Elementary, $385

* Our Road to Enjoying the Computer, Barbra Baker, Creekside Elementary, $424

 

The mission of our group is to help children with autism in all areas of life.  Our hope is to continue these grants in the future in order to create unique and successful programs in our area.  In the past 5 years, we have given over $30,000 to support programs in our area.

 

 

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Grant requests should describe the benefit to autistic students and should be submitted to JCASG no later than December 15, 2009. Please mail 2 copies to:

JCASG will contact you via email to confirm they have received your application.
If you do not receive a confirmation please contact Sheila at the above address. Upon receipt, applications will be reviewed by the President and Vice President of JCASG. Qualified requests will then be presented to the Board of Directors for approval. Letters will be sent to applicants in February 2010.
