Text Box: A sensory integration room is a critical need for the proper social development and academic success for many children.  It is most commonly recognized as a need in autistic children.  The typical classroom environment does not address this need; and, as a result, classrooms and children are suffering--including those without the need for such intervention.
Cindy Price of Greenwood (in cooperation with the Center Grove Education Foundation, a 501(C) 3 organization) has taken on the challenge to inform the public and provide sensory integration rooms in the Center Grove school system.
A Little Wiggle Room was inspired by Cindy’s autistic son, Liam. Sensory integration is a critical need for Liam's social Text Box: development and academic success. Cindy discovered that the solutions that included sensory equipment were problematic in that equipment had to be shared among multiple school corporations in one county. Furthermore, there was lack of a designated area, thereby adding challenges for getting students to focus and for providing therapists accessibility. Just as a gymnasium provides not only space but appropriate equipment, a room is needed for sensory integration that allows students to have a needed and timely sensory break with equipment that is designed to facilitate that. Toni Flowers, Assistant Director of Special Services in Johnson County, likens the situation to an adult who needs stress relieve and seeks Text Box: out a spa. The sensory integration room allows students to achieve the benefit of relieving stress without the bonus of relaxation. Then children can return to their group's social and academic routines.
In order to raise funds for sensory rooms, a charity motorcycle ride is being planned. This is a ABATE sanctioned motorcycle ride with police escort.  The ride participants will start at O'Reilly Raceway Park of Indianapolis and will end at Pleasant Grove Elementary School in Greenwood.

Text Box: Our 4th annual Drive for Autism Awareness was held on Thursday, June 12 at Heartland Crossing Golf Links. Despite a last minute change of venue due to flood damage at Dye’s Walk, the day was a great success raising over $12,000.
The weather cooperated and Text Box: we had a beautiful, sunny day for 27 teams to participate.
Congratulations to Ryan Goodwin who made a hole-in-one on Hole #5 and won a $600 gift package from Golf Headquarters. This is the first year we had a hole-in-one and it created a lot of excitement. Text Box: Ryan’s team went on to win the tournament.
